Question 1

What exactly is Business Parcel?

Accepted Answer

It is the India Post parcel product booked at contractual rates rather than over the counter. Same network, same registered handling, same signature on delivery — the difference is the price and the fact that the paperwork is done before you reach the counter.

Question 2

How much cheaper is it than Speed Post?

Accepted Answer

It depends entirely on weight. Up to about 1 kg the two are within a few rupees of each other. At 10 kg to another state, Speed Post costs roughly twice as much. The full comparison is on the rates page, where you can put both services on one lane and see the difference calculated per weight step.

Question 3

How long does it take?

Accepted Answer

Typically three to eight days, depending on the lane. That is indicative rather than guaranteed — weather, public holidays and remote destinations all extend it.

Question 4

What is the last-mile charge?

Accepted Answer

A small separate charge on the tariff sheet that applies to India Post Parcel on shipments up to 5 kg. The amount depends on where the parcel enters the network: induction at a parcel hub or processing centre costs less than induction directly at a delivery office. It is confirmed before you pay.

Question 5

Is it tracked?

Accepted Answer

Yes, end to end, with the same scan trail as Speed Post. Delivery is recorded against the recipient. Any consignment number can be tracked from the public tracking page without an account.
